MESSAGE FROM THE 
SUPERINTENDENT   
Each year, the Annual Report to the Community gives us an opportunity to pause, 
look back, and share a small part of what makes this division remarkable. This year, 
I read it differently, with the particular gratitude of someone preparing to step away.
This year’s report marks the third Annual Report to 
the Community in our current Multi-Year Strategic 
Plan cycle. Across these pages, you will see evidence 
of work that continues to deepen across our schools 
and workplaces: strengthening belonging, expanding 
opportunity, supporting learner confidence and 
independence, and nurturing generosity in the ways 
we care for one another and our communities.  
The stories in this report are not the whole story of 
LRSD. They are glimpses. They reflect the daily efforts 
of students, staff, families, trustees, community 
partners, and leaders who continue to make our 
division a place where learners can thrive and 
communities can flourish. From new programming 
and student leadership to food security, language 
learning, inclusive supports, data governance, land-
based learning, and workplace well-being, this report 
shows a division continuing to learn, adapt, and grow.  
As I prepare to retire, I read this report with deep 
gratitude. I am grateful for the students who continue 
to remind us why this work matters. I am grateful 
for staff whose care, skill, and persistence bring our 
commitments to life every day, often in ways that are 
quiet, generous, and unseen. I am grateful to families and 
community partners for their trust, collaboration, and 
belief in public education. Working alongside the Board 
of Trustees as they navigate the governance of public 
education, and alongside the Senior Leadership Team to 
navigate the complex work of leading a school division, 
has been one of the great privileges of this role.  
I am also pleased to acknowledge Jackie Connell, 
who will become LRSD’s next Superintendent & CEO. 
Jackie will bring a fresh perspective to LRSD, and 
I know she will be embraced by a community that 
cares deeply about its students, staff, families, and 
future. She is a thoughtful listener, a steady learner, 
and a relationship-centred leader. She will have the 
opportunity to learn with and from many generous 
colleagues and partners, and I trust she will carry the 
work forward with care, curiosity, and purpose.  
The work of a school division is never finished. 
Strategic plans help us name our commitments, but it 
is people who bring them to life. For me, this report is 
both a reflection of what has been built together and 
a reminder that the most important work is always 
carried forward by others. It is an invitation to keep 
learning together, to keep listening carefully, and to 
keep building the conditions where every person in 
LRSD can belong, grow, contribute, and flourish.
